Table Mountain Motion
Picture Studios offers the two largest studios
in South Africa (6000 square metres), complete with
bluescreen walling, backlots, production offices,
warehousing, storage space and parking. Studio 1
is a large sound stage (3000 m²) equipped with
an airflow system.

Picture Studios is South Africa’s first
studio park tailormade to the feature film industry.
Situated on a 10 ha plot of land in Milnerton, Cape
Town, conveniently located 15 minutes (20 km) north
east of Cape Town’s central business district
and 20 minutes (25 km) from the Cape Town International
Airport.
Numerous film-related businesses
on site offer a ‘one-stop-shop’ for film-related
activities, including equipment rental companies, star
trailer, honey wagon and caravan hire, props and set
dressing, stunts and effects, consumables, a restaurant,
an extras casting agency and IT support, in addition
to ample office, warehouse and parking space for any
production wishing to utilise the secure premises.
The studio’s first
production, RING OF THE NIBELUNGS (starring Benno Fürmann,
Kristanna Løken and Alicia Witt), was completed
in February 2004. Recent productions include LORD OF WAR (starring Nicolas Cage and Ethan Hawke) and MERCENARY OF JUSTICE (starring Steven Seagal). A major Hollywood feature film production is currently
in production.

Picture Studios was officially launched on the
18th of November 2004 by the Premier of the Western
Cape, Ebrahim Rasool, the National Minister of Arts
and Culture, Dr Pallo Jordan and the CEO of VIP Medienfonds,
Andy Grosch. |
